At least nine people, a CID man and an ASWJ worker among them, were killed in various incidents of violence in city on Friday. Police and rescue sources said that Usman Ghani, 30, said to be a worker of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ) was gunned down in Kunwari Colony in the limits of Pirabad police station. He was a resident of Qasba Colony and worked as a driver.

Police said that the man was critically injured outside a Medical Store and died on his way to the hospital. The body was later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. ASWJ's spokesperson Maulana Akbar Saeed Farooqi said that the deceased was an activist of ASWJ in Qasba Colony. He said that scores of workers of his organisation had been killed over the past three months, adding that terrorists were moving freely in the city, but no action was being taken against them. Ghulam Qadir,60, and his son Faisal Abbas,35, were shot dead near Murshid Imambargah in Saeedabad. The deceased lived in Yousuf Goth in the Baldia area. Sources said that both the deceased were from Punjab.

Their bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hopsital. A 20-year-old man named Sohail was killed in a firing incident near a market in Mowach Goth also in the limits of Saeedabad police station. The man shot and killed in front of an alleged drugs den. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hopsital.

A decomposed body of an unidentified woman, who appeared to be in her mid-twenties, was found in the Gulstan-e-Jauhar area in the limits of Sharea Faisal police station. Her hands and feet were bound. Rescue sources said that the deceased had been sexually abused before she was killed. The body was shifted to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. Later, it was moved to Edhi morgue for identification.

Nazar Abbas, a resident of PIB Colony, was gunned down in the Tariq Road area in the limits of Ferozabad police station. Police said that unidentified armed men had opened fire at the car of the deceased as a result he died while his daughter, who was accompanying him, sustained injuries. The deceased and injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Riaz Hussain, 50, was shot dead in the Shah Faisal Colony area in the limits of Shah Faisal police station. Police said that the man was shot dead outside a grocery store. A man's body stuffed in a gunny bag was found from the beach near Rehro Goth in the limits of Sukhan police station. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. Rescue sources said that deceased was in his 60s. The body was shifted to the JPMC. A CID man named Sajid Ali, 42, was gunned down in the Frontier Colony near Hazara Chowk in the limits of Mominabad police station. The deceased lived in the Metroville area. The body was later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Meanwhile, a man was injured in a firing incident in the Lyari area.
